Mega multiple releases for ze zine fair, YEAH!

Woo, just in time for tomorrow's Melbourne Zine fair the Kahvillen! Krew has pumped out a blog-post worthy flippin' MENU of brand-spankin new titles.

First up 003, "Toilets" by Maddie Kelly, a free-verse abstract rap power-book complete with psychedelic yet minute/personal visuals.

004, "Nov 2010 - Feb 2011" by Marisa Lai, beautifully drawn recordings of the significant everyday moments that happen, matter, and stay with us.

005, "420 24/7" by David Mahler, a collection of "silly" comics that'll probly only be funny to people who understand what 420 means.

006, "Kahvillen Comics!" issue 2, the sophomore issue of Kahvillen! Text Divisions flagship (?) title. Overall a bit more disturbing than issue one, but the humor's there if you look for it. Probably not one for the kids though!

007, "Musicians Make Ridiculous Faces When They Play" by Marisa Lai, a collection of funny faces made by, YES, actual musicians whilst playing...music. Hilarity ensues, as does beautiful art that makes you envious and happppy!

ALL of these titles will be launched at tomorrow's zine fair, being held in the Degraves Street Subway between 1 and 6 pm. Should be a mad fun day, the Kahvillen! stall will (hopefully) be a-bustling!

Kahvillen! Text Division releases 001 and 002

Kahvillen!'s stoked to announce the release of not one, but TWO new comix!

First up, Trees Are People Too

Initially drawn on three A3 pages using a magic marker around two years ago, I redrew the comic last year in what I thought was a more conventional comic style (basically tracing frame shapes from Archie comics...God knows why...) Incidentally, this second version was as crap, if not more so.

I recently found it again and decided the story was good enough to pursue, so I knuckled down and popped out thirteen pages of blatant melodrama which just happened to be about the complicated love lives of leaves.

Next up is issue 1 of Kahvillen! Comics,

A compilation of comics produced from 2008 to just last month. Featuring such lovable characters as,

David, the bitching
voice of an "artist"
who somehow finds
himself funny,

Vincent the Pessimistic
Bear, the result of
perusing just a bit too
much R Crumb and
Quimby the Mouse,

Punk Rock Chick, everyones
favorite li'l anarchic
anti-establishment bull-dyke,

And many more!
Hopefully this will be issue one of many, but we'll see what the future holds when we get there!

Both comix are currently in stock at the Sticky Institute, Missing Link Records, Brunswick Bound and Polyester Books (I personally love the people who work here...very nice folks...and they have a great selection of hard-core porn, you know, if that's what you're into...)
When some guy named John (Jon?) is back from holiday expect to find some copies down in Minotaur comics. I'll do an update to this post if the comics head interstate or overseas. We'll see!
In the meantime, if you'd like to stock some copies at your distro/comic shop/gallery/record store, drop a line to kahvillen@gmail.com

Love from Kahvillen!
